CHICAGO (WLS) -- Several suspects are in custody after a Chicago police officer was killed in a shooting in the Chatham neighborhood Thursday night, CPD said. Police said officers assigned to the 6th District Tactical Team were on patrol when they attempted to make a stop on a male suspect at about 9:50 p.n. in the 8200-block of South Drexel Avenue. As officers approached, police said the suspect fled on foot into a nearby building.

Share WASHINGTON (WLS) -- A suspect from Chicago is in custody after a deadly shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington D.C. Authorities said the alleged gunman is 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago. Investigators said Rodriguez shot and killed two Israeli embassy staff members as they were leaving an event Wednesday night at the Capital Jewish Museum. The Embassy of Israel to the US identified the two victims as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Miligrim.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The faithful filled the pews of Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral on yet another historic morning for the Catholic Church around the world. "In Rome earlier this morning, Pope Leo XIV was formally inaugurated as the 267th successor to St. Peter," said Holy Name Cathedral Fr. Andy Matijevic. Matijevic led the first Mass Sunday morning at 7 a.m. as the faithful prayed together for the very first American pontiff, born Robert Francis Prevost on the city's South Side.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One of the seasons biggest charity runs is making its way through Chicago on Saturday morning. More than 1,000 people gathered near Solider Field for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. People from all walks of life are coming together to support and uplift those on a breast cancer journey, creating a wave of pink. The race, which stepped off earlier Saturday morning, raises money for breast cancer research. More than $250,000 has already been raised this year alone.
