    The boy’s swimming season is officially underway for Carroll High, as it picked up a strong second-place finish at the Spencer Invite this past Tuesday. The Tigers swimmers did not show any signs of rust in the first meet of the season with a handful of athletes topping the podium and the relay races nearly all going to Carroll High. The one relay that the Tigers did not take first in, they were in second.

    The Carroll High girls wrestling team may have gone 0-3 this past Monday at the Monarch Duals hosted by Denison-Schleswig, but it did have some good wins along the way and showed out in each of the three duals. The day started for the Tigers as they took on Audubon in a tightly contested matchup. The Wheelers got the better of Carroll High in the two bouts, although they were hard fought.

    The Carroll High girls basketball team used a strong start to build a lead and never let go in its 53-38 win over Kuemper this past Tuesday. The Tigers dominated on all fronts, hitting more shots, rebounding better and suffocating Kuemper on defense. The Knights looked good throughout, but a costly third quarter was enough for Carroll High to run away with a win. Despite the 15-point difference at the end, the game was highly competitive early on. Kuemper even opened with a lead.

    The South Central Calhoun boys wrestling team found some success at MVAOCOU, going 2-1 in duals and winning all their matches in exciting fashion. Of the 14 wins the team had between the three duals, all 14 of them came by fall. With the Titans pinning like crazy, wins were bound to happen. The first of those wins came against Cherokee, as SCC came out on top 60-24. In the 11 matches, the Titans picked up seven pins.

    The battle for the city was as hard fought as expected with the Kuemper Catholic boys basketball team building a big lead in the first quarter against Carroll High and fending off any Tiger push throughout to come out on top 91-65. The Knights were clicking on both sides of the court, especially in the first quarter. Carroll High played a good game of basketball, but 37 points from Kuemper in the first was enough for the Knights to cruise to a win.
