A federal judge overturned a Texas law on Wednesday that offered illegal migrants in-state tuition rates for nearly 25 years. The ruling came the same day the Department of Justice sued the state over the law, alleging it unconstitutionally discriminates against legal citizens in other states who aren’t offered the same in-state tuition rate. Federal law bars schools from giving illegal migrant benefits that aren't even offered to legal U.S. citizens, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously on Thursday that Wisconsin exercised religious discrimination against a group of charities run by a Catholic diocese in the state. The Catholic Charities Bureau sued the state after officials would not exempt the charities from paying into the Wisconsin unemployment tax program. The Catholic Charities Bureau argued that being run by a local diocese gave it religious exemption from paying unemployment taxes.

Gov. Jim Pillen signed a bill Wednesday keeping men out of women’s sports in the state, joining more than two dozen states with similar protections. Pillen appeared alongside female athlete advocates Riley Gaines, Payton McNabb, Jordy Bahl, and Rebekah Allick while signing the Stand With Women Act. Pillen also signed measures modernizing in-state manufacturing and expanding family investment in children’s education, according to a Wednesday statement.

Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday against the U.S. Department of Agriculture accusing the department of cancelling a $13 million, three-year contract without cause. Pennsylvania’s Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program, or LFPA, allowed low-income families and food banks across the country to access fresh, locally grown produce. The administration cut funding for the LFPA and a similar program for schools and child care centers.

Washington state authorities continued to search Wednesday for Travis Decker, a father suspected of kidnapping and killing his three daughters in the area of Wenatchee in central Washington, about 100 miles east of Seattle. Authorities discovered the bodies of 5-year-old Olivia, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 9-year-old Paityn near an Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest campsite, law enforcement said at a Tuesday night news conference.
