    Janelle Halldorson lost her father to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) last August. After watching him battle the disease for eight years, and with her mother recently diagnosed with the same condition, Halldorson knew she had to take action. “This is very personal to me, so I reached out to the BC Lung Foundation after my mother’s diagnosis to see if there was anything I could do to help raise awareness for COPD and BC Lung Foundation programs,” Halldorson said.

    Last week, we brought you a first look at this new play. Today, we go behind the scenes as the cast and crew prepare for opening night. Duchess Park Secondary School’s Theatre Company is set to present The Wizard of Oz from April 8 to 12. “We knew it would be a challenge with its many sets and costumes, but it was important for us to give kids the chance to shine,” said Jackie Friesen, drama teacher at Duchess Park. Around 50 students are involved, including cast and crew.

    The rumours are true. Nancy O’s Restaurant Group, that owns Nancy O's and Betulla Burning in downtown Prince George, is opening a neighbourhood pub at the old College Heights Pub location this summer. Group president Eoin Foley said they are giving the interior of the old favourite a major refresh right now in anticipation of the grand opening in June. “We don’t want people to walk in for the first time and feel the last few businesses still lurking in there,” Foley said.
