For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering’s online master’s degree program No. 1 in the country, marking the seventh time in 11 years the program has earned the top spot. High student engagement, diverse and flexible teaching methods and world-class faculty contributed to UCLA’s Master of Science in Engineering Online program, or MSOL, topping the 2025 U.S. News Best Online Programs survey.

Key takeaways The National Academy of Inventors has elected three UCLA Samueli School of Engineering professors as fellows. Rafail Ostrovsky, Gaurav Sant and Yang Yang are among the academy’s 2024 class of 170 fellows, who come from 39 U.S. states and 12 countries. UCLA now has nearly 30 NAI fellows, including 26 affiliated with UCLA Samueli.

In 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) established the Digital Health Advisory Committee (DHAC) to consider topics related to the use of digital tools in drug development. On November 20 and 21st, 2024 the committee convened for the first time to discuss total product lifecycle (TPLC) considerations for generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) enabled medical devices.
