The recent death of 12-year-old Malinda Hoagland was shocking. As outlined in a criminal complaint, Malinda was tortured with a combination of food deprivation, forced exercise, verbal abuse, physical abuse, and the denial of basic health care. Sadly, Malinda’s case is the latest in a series of tragic Chester County prosecutions that include the torture of 3-year-old Scotty McMillan and his sibling in 2014 and the near fatal torture of a 9-year-old Westtown girl in late 2020.
