    The No. 12 Loyola men’s volleyball team earned the No. 2 seed in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association tournament and hosted No. 7 McKendree University in the quarterfinals at Gentile Arena April 13. After last year’s heartbreaking loss in five sets to McKendree, Loyola pulled together an impressive sweep over the Bearcats. “Last year was a punch in the gut,” Loyola head coach John Hawks said.

    The Loyola men’s volleyball team hosted the Queens University Royals in the first of a two-game series after their seven-game win streak was snapped in a three-set loss to No. 16 McKendree University March 28. The Ramblers sweeped the Royals in the match Thursday night. Third-year redshirt setter Dan Mangun started the evening with a serve before the Royals struck back with a kill by third-year outside hitter Matthew Pilich.

    The Loyola men’s volleyball team swept the Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons Feb. 29 at Gentile Arena. First-year outside hitter Daniel Fabikovic lit up the box score with 18 kills in the straight-set victory, one shy of his season-high record of 19. The Mastodons struck first with an ace from fifth-year outside hitter Jon Diedrich, which was followed by a kill from third-year outside hitter Mark Frazier.

    The No. 13 Loyola men’s volleyball team returned to Gentile Arena Feb. 9 in their first home MIVA conference match, battling a five-set thriller to take down No. 6 Ohio State University. To open the match, it wasn’t an ideal start for the Ramblers. The Buckeyes picked up a 3-0 run after two kills and an early ace from redshirt first-year outside hitter Ben Putman. An attack error from first-year outside hitter Daniel Fabikovic sent them into an early timeout down 4-0.

    After sweeping Long Island University the night before, the Loyola men’s volleyball team defeated the George Mason University Patriots in a competitive four-set match Jan. 27 at Gentile Arena. Fourth-year middle blocker Jimmy Meinhart opened the match with a kill and, in the next play, Loyola forced an attack error from the Patriots’ side. A service error from first-year outside hitter Jake Read gave George Mason the service.
