    Seniors Landrie Polk and Brendan Ballard received Athlete of the Month honors at the January WISD School Board meeting. Polk was the high scorer in the Lady Roos’ matchup against North Crowley. Combined with teammate Madison Baruch, the duo counted for 38 percent of the team's points. Polk also runs track and cross country. Ballard, the Roos 6-7 point forward, is regularly among the team's highest scorers and rebounders.

    The skies are clear, and with control yoke in hand the pilot uses the left rudder pedal to gently lean northwest toward Parker County. With wings now level, students in the classroom watch as the Aledo High School campus begins to appear on the horizon. The common flight pattern is one of the favorites of students in Aledo ISD's Career and Technical Education flight training program. The class, taught by flight instructor Derek Foster, uses the simulator as one of the key elements of the program.

    It was superb weather for participants of the 2024 Aledo Thanksgiving Trot. However, runners did not see pre-dawn complications such as high winds, runaway banners and frustratingly stubborn power generators. Before the 8 a.m. gun, everything was calm and all systems go. The grassroots annual event, which has grown tremendously over the years, benefits one family or individual experiencing medical difficulties.

    Buying flowers from Parker County Master Gardeners annual plant and flower sale does more than beautify your home. Proceeds from your purchases are spread across the county to beautify public gardens, educate the public, and help fund agriculture projects for clubs, schools and churches. Spring plant sales are in April at the Weatherford Heritage Park maintenance facility, directly south of the First Monday Flea Market grounds on Sante Fe Drive.

    A letter with the headline, "Weatherford City Council members need to hear from you!" visible through the envelope window could get any citizen’s attention. However, according to various sources, the money solicited from the National Police Association does not go where you may think. The letters mention how well maintained your neighborhoods are and asks for you to vote "yes" on a so-called Quality of Life Policing Petition that will be presented to the Weatherford City Council.
