A woman in her 40s is in hospital with life-changing injuries after a suspected XL Bully attack. Avon and Somerset Police said the woman was bitten by the dog at a home in Sutton Avenue, Bristol, at about 16:15 BST. The force confirmed the dog - which is thought to be an XL Bully - has been secured inside the home. Officers used protective shields while entering the address, police said, adding the woman was sent to hospital by ambulance.

More than £3,000 has been raised for a footballer who has undergone surgery on his jaw, after he was injured while playing. Josh Owers, 22, from Bristol, a midfielder for Taunton Town, suffered a bleed on the brain and a double fracture in his jaw, following an injury during a match on Saturday 9 November. The club's manager, Richard Luffman, set up a fundraising page shortly after the injury, to help Owers while he is unable to play football.

Two teenagers have been found guilty of murdering a boy who was stabbed and left bleeding to death on a pavement. Darrian Williams, 16, died after being stabbed in Rawnsley Park in Easton, Bristol, at about 18:00 GMT on 14 February. Two boys, aged 15 at the time but now aged 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied his murder but were each found guilty at Bristol Crown Court on Friday. A jury delivered unanimous guilty verdicts for murder and possession of a bladed article for the pair.

Wellington Library on Fore Street needed work to improve the accessibility and thermal efficiency of the building. Somerset Council said renovation to the fabric of the early 19th century Grade-I listed building was also required. The library moved to a temporary home on nearby North Street on 7 September while the work was completed.
