AUBURN — A new location is a whole new ballgame for a local sports card and memorabilia shop. Hot Corner 315 has moved into Auburn Plaza on Grant Avenue, near Aldi, after a little more than a year on Market Street downtown. Owner Noah Donch told The Citizen he has always wanted to find a larger space for the shop. The Auburn native is now waiting for new signage and for Google to update its location to help people find it.

AUBURN — The owners of Mattie Street restaurant Roseadah's were tripped up as soon as they opened in March 2020, the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. But owners Traci Leubner and David O'Hara didn't let that trip turn into a stumble. As they celebrate the restaurant's fifth anniversary, Leubner and O'Hara reflected with The Citizen Wednesday on their transformation over those years into a source of both comfort food and culinary flair.

Train car diner Mary Lou's, from Marcy, to open in Sterling

After traveling more than 80 miles, a train car diner will bring a touch of 1950s nostalgia to the town of Sterling as soon as this fall. Husband and wife Joe Gregg and Kristina Brewer are working to open Mary Lou's at 14249 Craine Road. The stainless steel, red-roofed diner was trucked there in November on a flatbed from the town of Marcy, where it was most recently the Marcy Diner. Its new name comes from Brewer's mother, and it's located on farmland owned by her family.
Auburn wine, spirits shop announces closure after 8 years

The Underground Bottle Shop in Auburn, a destination for local wine, cider and spirits enthusiasts for eight years, will close its doors this month. The 29 E. Genesee St. shop announced the news on its Facebook page on Monday. "For the past eight years, we’ve been able to cultivate something really special here in Auburn," the shop said.
Future of Big Lots in Auburn, NY area uncertain after deal

The future of the Big Lots store in the Auburn area is uncertain after the discount retailer announced an agreement that will keep some locations open. In a Dec. 27 news release, the retailer announced a "strategic transaction" with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners that will preserve the Big Lots brand, hundreds of its stores and thousands of jobs. Whether the Big Lots in Grant Avenue Plaza in Sennett is one of those stores, however, remains unknown.
