Why is Tenet so dull? That's actually kind of an interesting question. On the surface, it's remarkably similar to other Nolan films. People talk about the awful sound mixing, but he's always a director that's pushed for the audio/visual theatrical experience more than any eye for careful or nuanced scriptwriting. Only in this case, it seems he pushed that tendency to the extreme, opting for an Altman-esque soundscape where effects, music, and dialogue all get weighted the same.
