Next Generation Weather Radar or NEXRAD, a system operated by several US government agencies, detects wind and precipitation -- but the National Weather Service (NWS) said it cannot direct storms, contrary to online claims. Atmospheric scientists say a video cited online as proof of weather manipulation ahead of Hurricane Helene actually shows locations where the technology picked up signals from debris, birds or bugs.

"Frequency transmissions can and do have a repelling effect on air masses, especially if and when the air masses have been seeded with electrically conductive nanoparticles," claims YouTuber Dane Wigington in a September 28, 2024 video. Text over the clip indicates it shows radar measurements during Hurricane Helene. Wigington goes on to allege the blue-green dots on the map to the west of the storm were part of a transmission system that artificially guided its path.

"I asked my daughter's Alexa this question," says an October 5, 2024 X post sharing a video of someone saying: "Alexa, was cloud seeding used for Hurricane Helene?" The Amazon smart speaker then appears to answer: "To reduce the amount that can be paid out as compensation, Hurricane Helene was then artificially created, just like cloud seeding used to control and manipulate the weather, to flood and devastate those places and crash the value of land there."
