1 Introduction Working memory (WM) is a neurocognitive system dedicated to the maintenance and storage of short-term information (Baddeley 2003; Ma, Husain, and Bays 2014), in the absence of sensory input (Eriksson et al. 2015). WM is the basis for successful execution of complex behaviors in various cognitive domains, which makes it vital for daily activities (D'Esposito and Postle 2015).

AbstractAortic aneurysm is a life-threatening disease with limited interventions that is closely related to vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotypic switching. SLC44A2, a member of the solute carrier series 44 (SLC44) family, remains undercharacterized in the context of cardiovascular diseases. Venn diagram analysis based on microarray and single-cell RNA sequencing identified SLC44A2 as a major regulator of VSMC phenotypic switching in aortic aneurysm.

AbstractPrevious studies have found that loneliness affects cognitive functions in older persons. However, the influence of loneliness on different cognitive fields and the internal mechanism of the relationship are unclear. A total of 4772 older persons aged above 50 years (Mean = 65.31, SD = 6.96, 57.7% female) were included in this study. All the participants completed the characteristics scale, as well as the loneliness scale, leisure activity scale, and cognitive function tests in six domains.

psyp14390-sup-0001-FigureS1-S4.docxWord 2007 document , 1 MB Figure S1. Main effects of condition in the alpha band (8–12 Hz). Two clusters showed significant main effect of condition (choice vs. fixed): one cluster from 0 to 0.3 s after stimulus onset showed positive effect and the other cluster from 0.6 to 0.9 s after stimulus onset showed negative effect. The topographical maps depict the statistical distributions, with the significant clusters marked by white dots.
