Yuba County hosted an annual salute to local businesses Thursday night at the family-owned BARNS AT WILLOW CREEK event venue between Browns Valley and Brownsville in the Yuba County foothills. It’s an exceptional venue and the place was well-dressed for the company, representatives from various local businesses, and management from Yuba College, the Yuba Water Agency, all five members of the Yuba County Board of Supervisors, etc.

We need to get one thing straight about the history of Yuba-Sutter baseball: BABE RUTH did not play at Bryant Field. Babe Ruth did play in Marysville, alongside Yankee teammate LOU GEHRIG, in a 1927 exhibition game, but Bryant Field did not exist then.

Marysville Police Officer OSMAR RODARTE’s celebration of life Tuesday was truly something to behold. Before the location was announced, we were musing with TED LANGDELL, who streams local government meetings and big community events live and archives them online at YUBA-SUTTER LIVE, about an indoor venue in the community large enough to accommodate the crowd expected for the 27-year-old police officer’s memorial service.
