1 IntroductionDrought stress is one of the primary factors limiting the global geographic distribution of plants as well as their growth and productivity (Fang and Xiong, 2015). To counteract drought stress, plants have evolved a range of response mechanisms, one of which is the phytohormone-mediated pathway. Abscisic acid (ABA) is the main hormone that plants use in response to drought stress and plays a key role in plant growth and development (Lee and Luan, 2012).
