The daughter of a loyalist murdered by the UVF says she has lost all faith in the Police Ombudsman after the publication of a report into her father’s death was again delayed. The oversight body had promised to have Operation Abraham - an investigation into five killings carried out by the Shankill UVF between 1999 and 2010 - ready by the end of March.

Former UVF gunrunner part of delegation to Afghanistan that included Victims Commissioner and ex-ProvoUVF gunrunner Winkie Irvine was so embedded in civic life that he was able to accompany the Victims Commissioner on a peace mission to Afghanistan. Judith Thompson, who held the post between 2015 and 2020, was part of a four-person delegation, including Irvine, which travelled to Kabul to talk to insurgents about “lessons learned from the Northern Ireland peace process”.
