Humans are shockingly predictable, which is disappointing for such a complicated piece of machinery. We can claim differences, and in a way we are because people come in all different sizes, shapes, colours and characters, but when you cut into the soul, we are just versions of one another. Festo Habakkuk Olang’ was the first ever archbishop of the Kenyan Anglican Church. Born in 1914, he attended Kisumu Primary and then Maseno School before proceeding to Alliance. His father, Etarwa, had four wives. Olang’s mother alongside two other siblings was the first wife in this family. Olang’s Christian faith was developed while attending Maseno School under influence of the then principal Carey Edward Francis.

Ruth Kamande, a convicted murderer serving time at Kamiti Maximum Prison, has graduated with a Law degree. The ceremony, held on Wednesday, 27th November, celebrated inmates and wardens who completed their studies through the University of London. In her speech, Kamande highlighted the transformative journey of studying while in prison. “We are here to celebrate this new chapter with a new story which all of you have participated in rewriting. We are here to celebrate graduands,” she said.

A Los Angeles-based production company, Bridge7, has acquired the rights to develop a sequel and TV adaptation of the acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bridge7 is led by producer Swati Shetty and former CAA agent Grant Kessman. The rights were secured from Celador, the U.K. company behind the 2008 hit, which was produced alongside Film4.

I love village burials. I do not look forward to people’s deaths just so I can attend their burials, but when they happen, as they always do, it is only fair to look for the silver lining in them. The world we live in today, the one of chasing the shilling and constant rat race, dictates that family and friends no longer meet as often as they used to. We rely on social media to catch up, because we have become lazy in even making phone calls.
