    The Kiwanis Club of Greater Sebring added another K-Club to its list recently by starting a K-Kids program at FLASH STARS Achievement Center in Sebring. K-Kids is a club offered to students, typically ages 6-11. It provides them the opportunity to make friends, build skills, contribute through service and learn how to be leaders. Members’ service projects contribute to the community, increasing the visibility of the K-Kids club and the school or organization they represent.

    As holiday shoppers wandered through the Walmart parking lot in Sebring this past holiday, the rich and melodious tone of a violin filtered through the air. At first, the music sounded like a recording coming from the store, but after following the notes shoppers found that the sweet sounds were coming from 21-year-old Angela Joia at the corner of the front entrance of Walmart coming off U.S. 27. She was sitting in a chair, and at times standing, playing an electric violin on Friday afternoon.

    Arbuckle Creek Farms in Avon Park will present the second annual Christmas on the Farm event from 5-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14. Arbuckle Creek Farms owner Hollie Raulerson is planning to feature 70 plus vendors at the affair. Last year, they had more than 75 vendors participate and Raulerson projected approximately 2,000 people attended. The gates to the farm, located at 6270 E. Arbuckle Road, Avon Park, will open at 5 p.m. for this free family-orientated event for the community.

    It was a sweet night on Main Street in Avon Park on Monday as the annual Christmas Parade stepped off for participants to enjoy. Many of the floats carried the candy theme throughout their displays. There were even inflatable gingerbread men and women walking along one float. Sweet treats were also handed out to the children, and some adults, along the route.
