The Minnesota Twins overcame a 7-15 start to the season with a 13-game winning streak in May to save their season. It takes an entire baseball team playing well to win every game over a two-week stretch. Minnesota’s pitching was dominant, with a league-best 2.06 ERA. Meanwhile, the 68 runs scored by the lineup were top nine in baseball. Out of all the high-ceiling talent in Minnesota, Kody Clemens was the player who stood out the most as the spark plug in the season-saving streak.

Mark Twain once said, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.”The start of the Minnesota Twins’ season may have rhymed yet, but there’s something poetic about the team compared to their counterparts from last season in several ways. It’s eerie enough to make a fan wonder if the Twins are replaying the 2024 season again. Last year, the Twins started the season 7-13 before rattling off 12 straight wins to climb back into contention in the AL Central standings.

Trevor Larnach’s career with the Minnesota Twins has always been challenging to gauge. Minnesota drafted Larnach 20th overall out of Oregon State in 2018, where he led the Beavers to a College World Series championship. Larnach made the All-Tournament team with four other Oregon State alums, including future Baltimore Orioles star Adley Rutschman.

Joe Ryan has become a model of consistency for the Minnesota Twins over the last four seasons. Since making his debut late in the 2021 season after the Twins traded Nelson Cruz to the Tampa Bay Rays for him, Ryan has totaled a 3.74 career ERA, a 3.77 FIP, and 8.6 bWAR over 533.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters don’t love the Joe Ryan experience because even without high-end velocity, he has still found a way to miss bats by averaging a 10.1 career K/9.

The Minnesota Twins have one of baseball’s most talented trios. Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton, and Royce Lewis. Minnesota’s problem over the last four seasons has been keeping all three in the lineup together. They have only played 22 games together in 2024 and 2025 and got off to a slow start. Lewis missed the first 35 games of the season after a moderate left hamstring strain he suffered when running out a ground ball in spring training.
