Joe Ryan has become a model of consistency for the Minnesota Twins over the last four seasons. Since making his debut late in the 2021 season after the Twins traded Nelson Cruz to the Tampa Bay Rays for him, Ryan has totaled a 3.74 career ERA, a 3.77 FIP, and 8.6 bWAR over 533.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters don’t love the Joe Ryan experience because even without high-end velocity, he has still found a way to miss bats by averaging a 10.1 career K/9.

The Minnesota Twins have one of baseball’s most talented trios. Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton, and Royce Lewis. Minnesota’s problem over the last four seasons has been keeping all three in the lineup together. They have only played 22 games together in 2024 and 2025 and got off to a slow start. Lewis missed the first 35 games of the season after a moderate left hamstring strain he suffered when running out a ground ball in spring training.

The Minnesota Twins are riding high after extending their winning streak to 11 games after sweeping the Baltimore Orioles on the road. At 24-20, the Twins are at their best record of the season with a .545 winning percentage and are clawing their way back into the AL Central, one of the most competitive divisions in baseball. However, Minnesota’s 4-0 win on Thursday afternoon may be a Pyrrhic victory.

Like last season, the Minnesota Twins are hoping to use another strong May to overcome a slow start to the season. Last year, the Twins started 7-13 before a 12-game win streak put them back in the AL Central race. After another 7-13 start in 2025, the Twins have put together an 11-7 stretch and are now 18-20 on the season. That included a series sweep over the Baltimore Orioles to extend Minnesota’s winning streak to 5 games.

As the Minnesota Twins left Cleveland following a four-game series loss, their lack of production from the lineup stood out. Solid outings from Pablo López and Chris Paddack felt wasted as Minnesota’s bats could only muster only six runs over the final three games of the series. Add in today’s game to the mix for good measure, a 4-3 loss, where the offense struggles again. It’s only May 1. The Twins are just 6.5 games out of first place in the division.

Winning a championship is really hard

The Timberwolves and Vikings have been to Conference Championships 9 times in the last 48 years. One step away from the biggest stage. They're 0-9 in those situations.

Fellas, is it bad baseball to try and hit the ball hard?

I swear to God if I hear someone mention exit velocity one more time.... https://t.co/bYilNek3pa
