WATCH: Hefty fines for more than two dozen drivers on back of expanded online reporting capabilities

More than 130 online dangerous driving reports have resulted in 25 drivers being issued with fines in the past two months. ACT Policing expanded its online reporting capability in May to include dangerous driving, letting the community have the chance to upload their dashcam footage of illegal driver behaviour. Offences captured include not stopping at red lights, not giving way, tailgating, mobile phone offences and careless driving.

A one-stop hub to access Woden Community Services (WCS) is in the works with the ACT Government committing to fully cover the construction costs of a new facility. But it’s still some way into the future with construction not expected to begin until 2026. The plan is to build a four-storey, 2800 square-metre community facility on Callam Street next to the new bus interchange, close to the Woden Youth Centre and across the road from the new CIT and public transport interchange.

Rehabilitation robots have been installed at the University of Canberra Hospital to help people in their recovery journey following serious neurological injuries. It’s the second public facility in the country to offer the service, carried out by a trio of upper and lower limb rehab robotic devices. University of Canberra Professor Bernie Bissett said the idea to bring cutting-edge rehabilitative technology to Canberra was first envisioned in 2020.

Low awareness of Canberra’s community-based health services, but a desire to know more, has led to the development of a bespoke navigation system for people to find the most suitable care. Canberra Health Services (CHS) has developed the health literacy tool in response to an identified gap in locals’ knowledge about where exactly they could access different types of healthcare.

Butterfly is known to be one of the more difficult swimming strokes, but for nine-year-old Millie Lamb, it’s as natural as breathing. The Wanniassa Junior School student has been chosen to represent the ACT in nine separate races at the School Sport Australia National Swimming competition. She’s only been training in squad swimming with the Tuggeranong Vikings Swim Club for a year, but has quickly attracted attention in the pool.
