Monday, January 6, Black River Technical College (BRTC) held a legislative panel session for its employees. This session gave employees the opportunity to talk to their legislators about concerns surrounding the future of education in Arkansas. The attending legislators were Senator Blake Johnson, Representative Trey Steimel, Representative Fran Cavenaugh, and Representative Jeremy Woolridge. Each legislator represents a county or counties that BRTC serves.

The 2024 Black River Technical College (BRTC) trap team has made college history by taking 1st Place Team in Conference 2 of the USA Clay Target College League. This championship award is a great triumph for the team. It follows the 2023 Fall season where Sara Roland won 1st place Jr. Varsity Female and the team took 7th place in the conference. “Since starting our trap team during the 2021-2022 year our team members have received several individual accolades and awards,” said Coach Dane Dillion.

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Registered Nursing (RN) pinning ceremony was a family affair for a mother-daughter duo. Michelle Knight, mother, and Kandra Knight, daughter, graduated together as members of the RN Fall 2024 class. Kandra said they had it all planned out from the beginning. Kandra said she remembered her mother talking about wanting to be a nurse, but circumstances kept her from getting to follow through with her dreams.
