Allianz Commercial, part of Allianz SE, Thursday named former Sompo International claims leader Melissa Hill as regional head of claims for North America. She replaces Frank Sapio, who is retiring at the end of April. Atlanta-based Ms. Hill reports to Shanil Williams, CEO of Allianz Commercial North America, and chief regions officer, Americas, and to Thomas Sepp, chief claims officer at Allianz Commercial. Ms. Hill previously was strategic claims transformation lead at Sompo.

Tariffs will likely be inflationary to the overall cost of risk, top executives at Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. said Thursday, as the brokerage reported higher first-quarter revenue but a decline in profit. Insurance rates continued to soften in several major lines in the quarter, led by property, despite the elevated risk landscape, the executives said. Marsh McLennan reported $7.06 billion in revenue for the quarter, a 9% increase from the same period last year.

Amwins Group Inc. Tuesday named parametric insurance specialist Brenden Beeg vice president for alternative risk. Mr. Beeg will report to Alex Kaplan, executive vice president for alternative risk. Denver-based Mr. Beeg most recently was senior vice president of brokering at Plover Parametrics, a New York-based insurtech specializing in parametric coverage. Prior to that, he managed business development for Descartes Underwriting SAS, a France-based parametric managing general agency.

He will report to Craig Hanrahan, head of field operations insurance, based in New York. Mr. Reiss most recently was president of the Northeast zone at AIG. Prior to that, he was corporate risk and broking leader for the Northeast region at Willis Towers Watson PLC.
