The IOAS has announced the withdrawal of its accreditation to all Textile Exchange standards for Bangladesh and India as of Jan. 3, five months after suspending accreditation for the two countries effective Aug. 1. Behind the withdrawal of accreditation was the fact that the countries no longer conformed to the strict auditing/certification standards set during the annual assessment.

Apparel and textile imports to the U.S. rose by 1.5 percent in November from a year earlier or an increase of 6.9 billion square meter equivalent (SME) versus 6.8 billion SME in November a year ago, according to the Office of Textiles and Apparel of the U.S. Department of Commerce (OTEXA).
