    Queensland Premier Steven Miles has announced free school lunches if Labor is re-elected at the state’s upcoming election on October 26. The A$1.4 billion policy would cover primary students in public schools and begin next year. Labor estimates it would save parents about $1,600 per child, per year. On Sunday, Miles said: [The program is] universal to avoid stigmatising the kids that need the food the most, but also to ensure that it supports every Queensland family.
