Tom Gleisner was spending a lot of time visiting loved ones in nursing homes when he realised there was a story to tell. So, he did what he does best, and began writing. All he knew was they he wanted it to be funny and for the elderly characters to have agency. What he didn't anticipate was that it would turn into a musical - 'Bloom'. Originally released in Melbourne in 2023, it has just opened here at the Sydney Theatre Company and is playing until May 11th.
