Queensland Health has launched an investigation after an apparent biopsy mix-up led to two women receiving the wrong cancer diagnoses. Both women had undergone biopsies in November, after their mammograms at Rockhampton BreastScreen returned suspicious results. One patient was incorrectly cleared of cancer, with her tumour going untreated for months, while the other reportedly underwent unnecessary surgery.

A staged rollout of the Brisbane Metro is under way, hailed as the biggest evolution of the city's public transport system in decades. After years of cost blow-outs and delays, the 'turn-up-and-go' bus service officially launched today. After a four-week trial last year, the 24-metre electric vehicles will now be a permanent feature on Brisbane roads. The rollout is happening in stages with only one service currently active.
