    SEATTLE — The man accused in a string of mass stabbings in Seattle’s Chinese-International District (CID) in early November appeared in court Wednesday where a judge granted a motion for a mental competency evaluation from the defense. According to court documents, the court granted the defense’s motion for an in-custody competency evaluation for Roland Lee, 37, accused of stabbing five people in the CID.

    SEATTLE — A Meadowbrook three-story apartment fire displaced seven people, including two children, Wednesday evening, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Battalion Chief David Berry with the Seattle Fire Department said the fire appeared to start around 5:40 Wednesday evening on a balcony at an apartment building on Northeast 115th Street. The flames then spread up the side of the building. The location of the building borders Seattle’s Victory Heights and Meadowbrook neighborhoods.

    NORTH BEND, Wash. — A man slammed into a local pet grooming business in North Bend Wednesday evening after he thought he pressed the brake instead of gas, according to a spokeswoman with the Snoqualmie Police Department. Melinda Black, a spokeswoman with the Snoqualmie Police Department, said a man hit the gas pedal instead of the brake when he accidentally crashed into Mt Si Pet Salon, a pet groomer that serves the Mount Si Village area.
