    A few months ago, the Chinese Communist Party expelled Li Shangfu and Wei Fenghe, two former defence ministers, for corruption. Li was sacked in October 2023, after he served just seven months at the post; no explanation was given for his sudden removal. Wei Fenghe, another former defence minister, had earlier been expelled from the CCP for “serious violation of party discipline and the law”.

    On October 31, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated virtually to the nation the Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing ‘Museum of Valour’ at Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. Singh was to visit Tawang, but due to inclement weather, the unveiling took place from Tezpur, Assam. The function coincided with Deepawali, as well as the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’, which every year celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister.
