Exciting and daunting: it’s 2025! January’s are notorious for feeling that universal itch to start fresh, set new goals, and upgrade ourselves to better, more refined versions. So, to scratch our own itch, we here at The Post decided to kick off the new year by changing up our look. A facelift, if you will. New principals are arriving at St Ives Public and St Ives High School. For St Ives Public, Kelly McGowan will become principal following her role as Deputy Principal at St Ives North Public School. For St Ives High School, Tracey Casey, former Principal at Sydney Secondary College, Leichhardt Campus, is the new principal. Combined, both women have more than 50 years of experience in the education sector and in leadership positions.

The NSW Government and Ku-ring-gai Council have come to some agreement regarding the Transport Oriented Development (TOD). Earlier in 2024, Ku-ring-gai Council pushed back against the Minns Government’s new housing policy, which would see mass development erupt 400-metres around the Roseville, Lindfield, Gordon, and Killara train stations.

Kintsugi Heroes have released their third book, titled “Connecting Seniors: Silver Linings – Inspiring Stories of Courage and Resilience”. Launched on December 4th at Thornleigh Community Baptist Church, the book is an anthology of seniors’ stories, where ordinary people around the community share their tales of overcoming adversity. “Connecting Seniors” is a project sponsored by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.

Throughout 2024, the viability of Devonshire Childcare Centre was called into question. Operated and owned by Willoughby City Council, Devonshire remains the only long day care centre in the LGA run by the local government. Established over 20 years ago, the centre was created to meet the needs of families unable to find meaningful daycare options.
