    The Southeast Missourian learned on Friday that longtime Cape Central Tigers head coach Drew Church is resigning following a 19-9 season in 2023-24. While Church resigns from his role as head basketball coach, he will remain as assistant principal. Church began his tenure as head coach of the Tigers back in 2006 and racked up 341 wins during his career. Church was hired in July of 2006 by then-athletic director Mark Ruark, who now serves as principal at Saxony Lutheran High School.

    The first semifinal of the evening featured a showdown between the top-seeded Doniphan Donettes and the fourth-seed Dexter Bearcats. In the end, a 17-2 run in the third-quarter led Doniphan to a 58-38 win over Dexter to earn a spot in the C4D1 championship game. “I’m really proud,” Doniphan coach Adam Epps said.

    In the first 21 games, the Notre Dame Bulldogs have played in their fair share of close games. On Monday night, it appeared the Bulldogs would find themselves in yet another tight contest, but a big second half led them to a 66-39 win over the Dexter Bearcats at Notre Dame Regional High School. The Bulldogs led just 22-16 at halftime after beginning the game on a 10-0 run. Bulldogs coach Kirk Boeller said the dominant second half was predicated on their defense.
