The police command in Akwa Ibom State has confirmed the abduction of an entrepreneur in Eket, Eket Local Government Area of the state. The victim, identified as Dennis Ajah, was reportedly abducted on his business premises at 94 Afaha Eket Road, Eket on Thursday, 10 April. The Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket on Wednesday.

Inih Ebong, an associate professor of theatre arts, unjustly sacked 24 years ago by the University of Uyo (UniUyo), Akwa Ibom State, is dead. Mr Ebong, 73, died in the early hours of Wednesday, 16 April, at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, his wife, Uduak, told PREMIUM TIMES around 7 a.m.“He is gone,” Uduak said in a quavering voice. Uduak said Mr Ebong stayed awake into the late night and was talking continuously from his sickbed while she tried to persuade him to calm down and sleep.

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State have fixed the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for 9 April in Abuja. A spokesperson to Peter Obi Media Reach, Ibrahim Umar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja. Mr Umar said the meeting would be closely followed by an interactive session with major stakeholders and other party organs.

Nigeria, March 29 -- Nigeria's First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has downplayed the recent "Not our mother" chants against her by college students in Delta State, south-south Nigeria. The authority of the Delta College of Nursing Sciences on Thursday queried a student, Osato Edobor, who posted an embarrassing clip of the incident on TikTok. However, the query was quickly withdrawn after the State's Commissioner for Health, Joseph Onojaeme, intervened.
