The Basketball Coaches Association of New York and state Hall of Fame will host its induction ceremonies Sunday, which will include former Frontier boys basketball coach Gary Domzalski, and the celebrations had me thinking of coaches who could one day be inducted. I’m sure there may be obvious omissions from this list as the coaches mentioned are still coaching or recently retired.

Here’s a look at 10 high school girls lacrosse players to watch during the 2025 season. The players are listed in no particular order, with all of the players having been named to the Coaches All-Western New York first team last spring. Claire Buccieri, Lancaster 10, midfield: Was the only freshman to make the All-WNY first team last season and one of three freshmen named USA All-American. Led Lancaster to a section championship and ended the season with 97 goals, 22 assists and 119 points.

Days before the Western New York Lacrosse Hall of Fame recognized Julie Buccieri’s career as Lancaster’s girls lacrosse coach, she received life-changing news. An MRI confirmed she had a cancerous tumor on her right kidney. The news was stunning but she was thankful it was caught early. It gave her flashbacks to decades ago when she had major left kidney surgery as a 13-year-old, and since then, has had periodic kidney issues.

Gowanda junior pitcher Addison Kota is a two-time All-Western New York small schools first-team selection in softball. Last season, she pitched in 88 innings and had 118 strikeouts. As a batter, Kota had a .767 average, 40 RBIs, 34 runs and was walked 11 times. She is a Syracuse verbal commit. 1.
