    The man who fixed my roof stopped by the other day to see if he could charm me into giving him more work. He’s a jovial fellow in his sixties, with a bustling family business, who, judging by his name and fair complexion, is probably of Scottish origin. I was trying to figure out whether what he was telling me about my cornices was true when he suddenly started ranting about migrants.
