The Colorado Avalanche could be getting their captain back for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Gabriel Landeskog hasn’t played an NHL game since the Avalanche won the Cup on June 26, 2022. Since then, he has had knee surgery, which didn’t work, as his right knee then required a cartilage transplant surgery. After years of rehab, Landeskog played in two AHL games on a rehab assignment before the end of the season.

The Vancouver Canucks failed to make the playoffs and a key reason why was the lackluster play of star forward Elias Pettersson. Pettersson was supposed to be not only one of the Canucks best players, but one of the best players in the NHL. The Swede was in the first year of his new eight-year, $92.8 million deal. However, Pettersson struggled this season to score and produce much offense, and his effort was put into question.

NHL insider Bob McKenzie doesn’t expect Mitch Marner to re-sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marner will be the top free agent available this summer if he makes it to July 1. Marner has been adamant all season that he won’t talk about his contract, as his focus is on the play. Ahead of the playoffs, McKenzie casts doubt on Marner re-signing. The big reason why is that McKenzie believes if Marner wanted to be back in Toronto, a deal would’ve already been done.
