A Week in ReviewIt has been a few weeks since the Sun Devils last took the field, and before we dive into the rankings of this past season’s uniforms, let’s talk about the last game, its uniform, and the season that was. The Devils took on Texas in their traditional gold Sparky helmet, maroon jersey, gold pant combination with one important, visible alteration: a Peach Bowl patch on the right shoulder.

Week in ReviewUtter domination. From the opening kick, the Sun Devils were in complete control en route to reclaiming the Territorial Cup and bringing it back home to its one, true, rightful place in Tempe. The Sun Devil defense gave up only 210 total yards and one touchdown for the game. Cam Skattebo ran for over 100 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone, finishing the game with 177 yards rushing. Skattebo wasn’t alone in rushing for the century mark.

The hype was palpable all week long, while the weekdays seemed to drag on as the anticipation grew for Saturday.

Week in ReviewHeading out on the road in November has long been a point of stress for Sun Devils fans, who’ve watched seasons derailed in cold-weather cities over the years. The trip to Manhattan, Kansas, for a November 16th date with a highly touted Kansas State team was deemed to be yet another in a long-standing series of tough November away games. Sam Leavitt, Jordyn Tyson, and the Sun Devil defense had other plans.

Week in ReviewEntering the game last weekend, Arizona State knew it was missing its best player on offense in Cam Skattebo, and one of its best players on defense in Keyshaun Elliott. Missing top producers on each side of the ball, especially Skattebo, who was beginning to garner Heisman buzz, left an uphill battle to overcome as a revamped UCF squad came to Tempe fresh off of annihilating its last opponent. This game had plenty of twists and turns, particularly in the first half.

Week in ReviewAn early kickoff in Cincinnati began with a bang when the Sun Devils forced a three-and-out, scored a touchdown, and intercepted the Bearcats in the first three consecutive possessions of the game. The momentum quickly turned when the Devils fumbled away the turnover they’d just forced, which led to a Cincinnati touchdown. Some head-scratching decisions to go for it on fourth downs contributed to Arizona State falling into a deeper hole that they were never able to climb out of.

The victory continues the history of success for the Maroon Monsoon uniform. Sam Leavitt threw for only 157 yards but ran for an additional 77 yards.

Week in ReviewSelf-inflicted wounds and lack of execution defined the Sun Devils’ loss to Texas Tech. A game that was very winnable proved to be the proverbial dangling carrot that could never be caught. There were opportunities to assert an offensive attack against a Red Raider defense that has often laid down a red carpet to the end zone for opponents in the early going of the season, but the Arizona State offense was never truly able to capitalize.
