I'm a music-lover, frequent photographer and occasional musician as well as being a fan of all kinds of films, including many with subtitles and some of the more 'cult' movies (Dark Star anyone?). Since joining HeyUGuys I've met lots of wonderful and fascinating people who work in front and behind the cameras and having moved on from writing and reviewing I've spent the last five years crewing the camera on the red carpet for premieres and such.

After the Moana 2 UK premiere in London yesterday there was a special aftershow cruise along the River Thames through Central London with all of the fun you would expect including appearance by Moana herself, star Auli'i Cravalho, along with the other filmmakers. The absolute highlight of the cruise though was an exclusive performance by musical duo Barlow & Bear.
Study By Loyola Professor Finds Less Than 2% of State Legislators Are Working-Class

Loyola professor Dr. Eric Hansen co-authored a February study that found only 1.6% of state legislators nationwide come from a working-class background. Hansen, an associate professor of political science, worked with Duke University researchers to compile occupational data on the 7,283 state legislators who held office in 2023.
Sexual Assault Reported in Mertz Hall March 21

Content warning: Sexual assaultCampus Safety notified the Loyola community of a March 16 sexual assault in Mertz Hall with a crime alert at 1:09 p.m. March 21. The crime alert said the offender was known to the victim and the assault happened in the early morning but didn’t include additional information on the incident. The email said the report of the crime was delayed, resulting in the delayed notification.
Loyola’s Department of Computer Science Receives $3.8 Million Grant for Cybersecurity Program

Loyola’s Department of Computer Science received a $3.8 million grant from the National Science Foundation, or NSF, in December to fund scholarships and training for cybersecurity majors. The CyberRamblers program will select 20 undergraduate applicants over five years to be awarded a two-year scholarship, stipend for living expenses and research opportunities starting in the upcoming fall semester.

Cued by the last beat of Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” coming from overhead speakers, singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin danced onto the Lincoln Hall stage for her Oct. 3o stop of her 99 Nights Tour. Cardin, an indie-pop artist, captivated the crowd throughout her Chicago performance, featuring works primarily from her August album “99 Nights.”Her opener, Canadian indie band New West, started the night with a sound reminiscent of classic British rock.
Men’s Soccer Falls to Dayton On Penalty Kicks in A-10 Quarterfinal

The Loyola men’s soccer team fell short against the University of Dayton on penalty kicks 5-4 in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic-10 Men’s Soccer Championships. The two teams couldn’t settle the score as they were left knotted at 2-2 after playing all of regular time and two ten-minute overtime periods, setting up the decisive penalty-kick shootout.
