Amarri Monroe is returning to the Quinnipiac men’s basketball program for his senior season, the reigning MAAC Player of the Year announced Saturday. The junior forward entered the transfer portal following the team’s loss to Iona in the MAAC Semifinals on March 14. But after a few weeks in the portal and serious interest from teams including UConn, Miami, Ole Miss, Kansas and Rutgers, Monroe has decided to stay in Hamden.

There will be no doubt at this point that Quinnipiac will have everything dialed in. Will UConn? Rand Pecknold has coached in 22 NCAA Tournament games. The head man has brought the Bobcats to an NCAA leading sixth-straight appearance, and also has the most wins of any active Division I coach with 666.

After falling to Cornell in the ECAC Semifinals on March 21, Quinnipiac men’s hockey’s season isn’t over yet. The Bobcats have earned the No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and are appearing in the big dance for the sixth-straight season. Quinnipiac will face off against No. 6 UConn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the Allentown Regional.
