Their May schedule against the Rockies and other MLB bottom-feeders exposes a cringy lack of competitive balance.

Jose Alvarado will not pitch at the back end of the bullpen if the Philadelphia Phillies reach another Red October. His PED suspension puts his future with the Phillies at serious risk, and it throws a proverbial curveball into Dave Dombrowski’s plans for the bullpen in 2025. The Phillies have stolen away first place in the National League East thanks largely to a dominant starting rotation, however.

The age-old conversation persists while the Philadelphia Flyers continue the first long-term rebuild in franchise history. The organization’s decision to hire Rick Tocchet as the new head coach reignites the criticism that the Flyers rely too heavily on past franchise heroes and their own alumni in key positions after their playing careers. The uniquely named New Era of Orange began with former Flyers Keith Jones and Danny Briere as the centerpieces of the new front office.

Focus on the city, culture, and identity gives no substance to why Rick Tocchet is a good fit for the Flyers. Focus on his playing career has little effect on him as a coach. There are real reasons to like a decision I don’t necessarily agree with. Didn’t hear any in this video
