    In the years 2018 to 2022, a total of €9.5 billion was invested into the residential sector in Ireland by institutional investors. The majority of this investment was made by investors based outside of Ireland, and indeed, many of the domestic institutional investors active during this period used internationally sourced finance. Of this €9.5 billion, more than €5 billon was deployed by investors acquiring assets in ‘forward structured’ transactions.

    The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the subsequent years of lockdowns showed us that many office-related roles could be performed efficiently on a remote basis. An apocalyptic scenario, ‘the death of the office’ was put forth. However, as anyone who has experienced the ebbs and flows of real-estate markets understands, while sectors can face challenging times, apocalyptic scenarios are usually overplayed, as is the case here.

    In response to the growing number of attacks on fire service personnel when attending incidents, I have been investigating the causes of such negative interaction with the aim of identifying potential solutions to help address this issue. Home Office figures show there are currently around 1,000 attacks a year across the UK, this is continuing to grow at an alarming rate of approximately 12 per cent a year.
