    Social care presents us with a double irony. It seems to be perceived politically as something simple anyone can do if pressed. Yet, it deals with some of the most complex and intimate aspects of the human experience - our need for control over our lives and to remain part of the mainstream. In that sense social care is more complex than rocket science. Yet social care policy has been made complex in another unhelpful way, as one of the most obscure and neglected of all public policies.
