The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, exhorts believers: “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2, KJV). The Amplified Bible puts the verse this way: “Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.” Prayer is not merely a religious routine; it is a lifeline to God, a means through which we commune with Him, seek His wisdom, and express our gratitude.

In 2 Kings 4, we encounter the Shunammite woman, whose faith and resilience inspire us even today. She had been blessed with a son through the promise of the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 4:16-17), but her joy turned to sorrow when the child suddenly died (vv. 18-20). Instead of giving in to despair, she took bold action. She laid her son on Elisha’s bed, shut the door, and journeyed to find the man of God (vv. 21-22).

In the book of John, we see Jesus using a secondary medium to facilitate the healing of a man who was born blind. Instead of simply speaking a word or just touching the man’s eye so he could see, Jesus “spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam’ (which is translated, Sent)” (John 9:6-7a, NKJV). Why did Jesus do it this way? In the silence of the Scriptures, we are left to speculate.

Psalm 23 is one of the most cherished passages in Scripture, a profound declaration of God’s care and provision for His people. In verse 3, David reflects on the restorative power of God, who brings renewal to our weary souls: “He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (KJV). This simple yet powerful truth is a source of hope for all who feel burdened, broken, or spiritually drained. Life often brings moments of weariness.
