ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five retail pharmacies in the Rochester area have closed in the last month, leading to panic among some residents who rely on the locations not just to fill prescriptions but to buy other essentials, like food. On Tuesday, leaders from all of the areas health systems stood with Rochester Mayor Malik Evans to pledge that they will help to fill the pharmacy deserts left behind.

Not only was Election Day 2024 very warm, we broke several records. First, we broke the record high for the date of 77 degrees, set back just 2 years ago in 2022. We hit a high on Tuesday of 81 degrees. Not only was it a record for the date, but it was also the warmest Election Day on record in Rochester. The old record was 79 degrees, set back in 1971. Records won’t fall on Wednesday, but our temperatures slowly will.

District Attorney Greg McCaffrey has been elected three consecutive terms. The York native, a Democrat, has been the county’s top prosecutor since 2012. He’s challenged by Republican Ashley Williams, who has been the senior social services attorney for the Livingston County Department of Social Services for the last four years. ROCHESTER, N.Y. – This year, Election Day falls on Nov. 5, just like it did in 1872. The country was still contending with a deep divide over the war and Reconstruction – and Susan B. Anthony wanted her voice heard. The incumbent president, Republican Ulysses S. Grant, had lead the Union Army to victory in the Civil War just a couple of years before. Newspaper publisher Horace Greeley, endorsed by both the Democratic and Liberal Republican parties, was hoping to unseat him.
