Paul Savoie's goats were members of the family. Born eight years ago, Daisy and Duke were bottle fed after their mother died, by Savoie's wife and father-in-law. But, within the last two days, both met a violent end after they were killed by a bear – the same bear, Paul and his brother David claim, that has also killed 10 other goats in the Websters Corners area in about a week. The first goat was killed on Tuesday, April 8.

Cross border school trips into the United States will continue as planned for students across the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows School District, for now. SD42 has not cancelled any upcoming field trips to the U.S., confirmed Irena Pochop, a spokesperson for SD42, and the district will continue to follow established procedures for Level 2 field trips which includes all international travel.

A world-renowned circus performer returned to Maple Ridge Secondary to teach the students the skills that have propelled him around the world. Circus art master Benoît Ranger, founder of Les Transporteurs De Rêves, or The Dream Circus, and circus coach Pascale Schram, were at the school from Monday, April 7, to Friday, April 11, showing students how to balance on the tightrope, juggle, walk on stilts, use a stable trapeze, aerial silks, roller balancing, and more.

A video posted by the content creator of a local cat shelter has gone viral leading to generous donations and the adoption of four felines in need. Gina Schulli, a volunteer with Katie's Place, who not only takes care of the medications for the cats, but also does the social media, said it was totally by accident that the video went viral. "I was so shocked," she exclaimed.
