NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The North Charleston Police Department is investigating an infant who was found unresponsive at a North Charleston hotel. Officers were dispatched to the Residence Inn on Northside Drive for a report of an infant that was not breathing, police spokesman Harve Jacobs said. The mother found the infant unresponsive after she had just woken up. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and tried to perform life-saving measures.

(WCSC) - The City of Charleston announced the Hospitality Worker Parking Pilot Program on Thursday to provide temporary, limited free parking access for hospitality workers on the peninsula. Applications will open on Monday for businesses to request permits for their employees. Business owners or general managers can only apply, with each business eligible to request five permits, according to the City of Charleston.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - South Carolina Department of Revenue agents arrested the owner of a Charleston County restaurant on Thursday and charged her with operating without a retail license. Paula Nelson, 58, of Summerville, was the operator of Crepes Palace in North Charleston. An arrest warrant says that her retail license was revoked on Dec. 18, 2024, because of an unpaid tax balance. Despite this, Nelson continued to operate the restaurant without the license, the warrant alleges.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will hold a drop-in public information meeting to discuss a proposed highway safety improvement project on James Island. The drop-in meeting will be on May 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Camp Road Middle School, according to SCDOT. The school is located at 1825 Camp Road. The proposed highway project will be along Folly Road from Old Folly Beach Road to Maybank Highway.
