On Saturday, five individuals were added to the Greene County Fine Arts Hall of Fame. Greene County School District Activities Director David Wright was the emcee and started the program by saying that this year’s induction class stretched from one coast to the other, with individuals living in Washington, Maryland, Pennsylvania and two in Iowa. The first to be inducted was 1971 Jefferson High School graduate, Dick Oatts.

The Greene County Board of Supervisors will meet twice tomorrow morning. The Board will hear an update from the Jefferson City Administrator, and then consider approving the second reading of a new ordinance on public sex acts.

The Jefferson Municipal Swimming Pool will be open soon for the season, and the Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a few more lifeguards. JPRD Assistant Director Henry Pohlmeyer says the pool is planned to be open by the Memorial Day weekend and there are not many lifeguard openings available. “So yeah, naturally with the opening of the pool, we do need a couple more lifeguards. So there is still applications available.

A non-profit organization in Jefferson recently made a donation to another worthy non-profit organization. The Jefferson Kiwanis Club made a $500 donation to the Greene County 4-H program. According to the Kiwanis Club, this contribution has become a regular budgeted item, due to the 4-H program’s importance of providing activities to children in the community.

Tonight is the 3rd Annual Greene County Fine Arts Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The event takes place with a reception at 6pm in the high school commons area, followed by the actual ceremony at 6:30pm in the auditorium.
