Profit at LinkedIn’s Irish business surged to $427 million (€376 million) as the company added more members and increased its advertising business. The Irish subsidiary, LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, recorded turnover of $8.9 billion for the 18 months to June 30th 2024. Cost of sales for the period was $5.7 billion. The professional networking site has changed its reporting period to bring it in line with that of parent company Microsoft in Ireland.

Aircraft noise at Dublin Airport has been estimated to have a human “health cost” of almost €800 million and cause cardiovascular issues for nearly 17,000 people living in its vicinity, a report published on Thursday will say. US tariffs could cost Ireland more than €18 billion in lost trade, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has concluded. The institute estimated that if the US were to impose 25 per cent tariffs on all European Union (EU) exports, as US president Donald Trump has threatened to do, and the EU responds with reciprocal tariffs of its own, Irish GDP (gross domestic product) would be 3.7 per cent lower over the next five to seven years compared to a baseline with no tariffs.
