Officials said two suspects stole eight EV charging cords from a business on Brundage Lane in Central Bakersfield. At 5:30 a.m. on Monday, security footage captured at Brooks Brothers Interiors shows two men, one on a scooter who appears to be the lookout, and the other on a bicycle.

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield City Council will take up a proposal this week to raise your water rates, and it’s far from a drop in the bucket. In the last water usage proposal, increased rates would amount to 56% over the next five years. The price hikes would affect up to 165,000 residents in all city wards, however the ward with the most affected residents is in Ward 5. The increases are due to aging infrastructure, state and federal regulations, and the need to acquire more water.

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A family member of an accused murderer went on record with 17 News on Wednesday. Investigators say, a Saturday mobile home fire off of State Road in Oildale was started by 34-year-old Nicole Taylor. Taylor is charged with first degree murder and three arson-related felonies. At her arraignment Tuesday, she pleaded not guilty to all counts. Court documents obtained by 17 News say Taylor was placed by multiple witnesses at the home around the time the fire started.

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — New details in homicide that left one man dead in a Lakeview apartment complex in southeast Bakersfield. The victim is a 74-year-old Bakersfield man, and his accused killer is scheduled to face a judge Wednesday in court. Police said Domingo Trevino, 74, was murdered by Jason Garibay, 30, in this apartment complex.

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An arrest has been made in relation to a mobile home fire in northwest Bakersfield that killed a woman and two dogs. The Superior Mobile Home Park, is an 18-lot, poverty stricken park tucked away on State Road, north of Olive Drive, in Oildale. At 1:30 p.m. in lot 18, 52-year-old Amber Wimberley’s trailer caught fire. Kern County firefighters battled the blaze and discovered Wimberley and her two dogs inside.
