The sheer joy that comes from the Pokémon games can’t be replicated anywhere else, they are simple, engaging and thoroughly entertaining adventures. My love for Pokémon goes back to my childhood as the Black and White series of games were some of the first games I truly fell in love with. I used to exclusively play Pokémon Black and White, refusing to play any other game because I found myself completely engrossed in the world of pocket monsters.

To celebrate twenty years of the God of War franchise, Sony and Santa Monica Studios have revealed the ‘Dark Odyssey’ update for God of War Ragnarok. The biggest thing to come from this update is the cosmetics provided for Kratos, Atreus and Freya. All the new cosmetics have a sleek gold and black colouring.

Silent Hill f has finally received a new trailer as well as new story details, both of which were revealed during yesterday’s Silent Hill Transmission. Silent Hill f was first teased in 2022, details about the game have been scarce as Konami focused a majority of Silent Hill’s promotion over the last two years on last year’s Silent Hill 2 remake. The upcoming game has been written by well known Japanese horror author Ryukishi07, known primarily for his series Higurashi When They Cry.

By The Throat is a tense psychological horror film that plays on the viewers anxieties and keeps them in a perpetual state of fear. Directed by David Luke Rees, the film follows the Lizzy(Patricia Allison), a young woman that takes a job to look after Amy(Jeany Spark), a woman that has recently lost her daughter. Both women are suffering different forms of trauma and as Lizzy continues to stay at Amy’s home, she realises that everything isn’t as it seems.

Rupert Russel’s The Last Sacrifice seeks to understand the terrifying origins of the folk horror genre, and the murder that inspired a generation of filmmakers. Done in a documentary style, The Last Sacrifice pulls clips from 60’s and 70’s folk horror films such as The Blood on Satan’s Claw, whilst relating its narrative to the witch hysteria the UK was a host to during those decades. The documentary is structured around the murder of Charles Walton, a 74-year-old farmer that died in 1945.

The film follows the story of Mia Sheldon(Fayna Sanchez), a woman under house arrest after being convicted of a crime that she is haunted by whilst trapped in her home. House of Ashes is far more than a traditional genre film as it deals with important topics such as women’s bodily autonomy and abuse with a great amount of care and style.
