Brighton based Lambrini Girls offer a raucous punk debut which musically isn’t anything new, but it certainly attempts to get in your face. I like that. It’s not my favourite vial of post punk in the world. That shouting-in-a-southern-accent-core, which has entered the alt indie sphere in recent years, can rub me up the wrong way. Despite the big licks of this genre such as Idles and Soft Play producing some decent to good albums, it’s not a sound with much room to expand or fully titillate.

After 10 years, CBU continues to give back to the environment with its annual Arbor Day event, where students come together to improve the scenery and cleanliness of their campus. The two-day experience provided opportunities for students to enhance their environment. Pan American is a moniker of post-rock musician Mark Nelson (Labradford). Kramer is a New York music man, mainly producer, who I had the pleasure of reviewing and interviewing not that long ago. Jarring synths, war march drums and German vocals about god knows what, it’s not hard to see why I like this release. Of course, different from a studio album in nature, there’s no overriding theme or story here. It’s just a collection of early singles which, to be fair, sound like they belong together. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s a welcome documentation of how bands like Xmal laid the foundations for others to flourish.

Real Estate offer a light and summery record filled with charm and many smile inducing refrains. The jangly guitars and effortless vocal delivery provide a pleasant listen which really helped bring me down from a few grim cliff edges this week. It acted as a tool to calm down with after listening to entitled pricks shout things like, “I’ve worked 40 years in this department!” down a phone all day.
