By Conor Langs West Hawaii Today The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) released its All-League teams for boys basketball for the 2024-25 season, highlighting some of the top players for their superb play. See the paper Saturday to read the selections from the girls teams. DIIKohala’s Isaac Salvador-Libron highlighted the boys DII first team after being named BIIF DII Player of the Year. In conference and postseason play combined, Salvador-Libron averaged 13.3 points per game.

By Conor Langs West Hawaii Today Baseball and softball state playoff action continued on Oahu Wednesday, as Big Island teams played in the HHSAA and consolation brackets. BaseballBIIF DI runner-up Kamehameha-Hawaii lost in the opening round of the DI state bracket, falling to Saint Louis 5-1 at Iron Maehara Stadium. The Crusaders edged the Warriors in hits 6-5.

By Conor Langs West Hawaii Today The good news: Five Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) softball teams are competing on Oahu this week in the HHSAA tournament. The bad news: Three of those teams fell in the opening rounds on Tuesday, officially moving to the consolation brackets. Waiakea fell 10-3 to Kaiser in the Division I first round at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, moving to 8-5 overall on the season. The Lady Cougars improved to 12-2.

By Conor Langs West Hawaii Today Four deserving winners of this year’s Wayne “Big Dog” Scholarship were announced at last week’s BIIF Track and Field Championships, as the high school senior girls were awarded $2,000 for outstanding excellence in academics and community service while being involved in track or cross country. The basis of this prestigious award is to aid these qualified runners to pursue their endeavors in higher education and make a difference in the local community.
